Does CarShots work on motorcycles, ATVs and side-by-sides?
CarShots is built for cars, trucks and SUVs, and its guided shot list follows the angles of a car. Motorcycles, ATVs, side-by-sides, snowmobiles and personal watercraft are shaped differently, so results on them can vary from unit to unit.
The quickest way to know is to test your own inventory. Upload a photo of one of your units, pick a backdrop and see the result in about 20 seconds. It's free and there's no signup. Try a bike from the side and a side-by-side from the front corner before you decide.
Cars, trucks and SUVs on a powersports lot
If you take cars, trucks or SUVs in on trade, or sell tow vehicles next to your trailers, those are exactly what CarShots is built for. Shoot them with the on-screen outlines, put every one on the same backdrop as the rest of your listings, and turn the photos into a 15-second 360° walkaround video with voiceover and music. Then download the photos and post them where you list today.

How to photograph motorcycles, ATVs and side-by-sides for listings
Whatever tool you use, these habits make powersports listings look better:
- Give the unit room. Roll it out of the row so nothing is behind it or touching it.
- Shoot from about seat height, not eye level, so the unit doesn't look squat.
- Cover both sides and both front corners. Used buyers want to see every side before they call.
- Show the gauges. A clear shot with the odometer or hour meter readable answers the first question a used buyer asks.
- Get the wear points. Tires, chain and sprockets on a bike; tires, seats and the bed on a side-by-side.
- Use soft light. Open shade or an overcast day keeps glare off chrome, paint and plastics.
Free VIN lookups for powersports brands
Decode the VIN before you write a listing to confirm the model year and model. These free decoders use NHTSA data where it's available:
- By type: the motorcycle VIN decoder and the ATV VIN decoder.
- By brand: Polaris, Harley-Davidson and Yamaha, with more brands linked below.
Do used motorcycles need an FTC Buyers Guide?
No. The FTC's Used Car Rule excludes motorcycles. It does cover used cars, light trucks and vans, so if you sell more than five of those in 12 months, each one needs a Buyers Guide displayed while it's for sale. The free Buyers Guide generator fills one out from the VIN.
Your state may have its own rules for motorcycles and off-road vehicles. This is general information, not legal advice.
What does CarShots cost?
$50 a month for 333 photos, about 15¢ a photo, with 67 more for $10 when you need them. It runs month to month with no contract. After your free test photo, the 7-day trial includes 20 photos and a 360° video; a card is required.
