Can you get a Toyota window sticker by VIN?
Yes, but not from a public website. Toyota keeps window stickers in its dealer system and doesn't publish them online, so a Toyota window sticker by VIN comes from a Toyota dealer, who can print the original label from the VIN.
What you can get here, free and in seconds, is a spec sheet built from public data: the factory build decoded from the VIN, EPA fuel economy, NHTSA crash ratings and the recalls NHTSA lists for that model. That covers most of what people look up. What it can't show is the money side of the label: the base MSRP, each factory option with its price, the destination charge and the dealer the car was shipped to. Only the original has those.
How to get the original Toyota window sticker
Work through these in order. The first one costs nothing and often ends the search.
Find the VIN
Read it through the windshield at the driver's side of the dashboard, or from the label in the driver's door jamb. It's 17 characters and never contains I, O or Q.
Check the paperwork
Buyers often keep the sticker. Look in the glove box, the owner's manual pouch and the purchase folder from the selling dealer.
Ask a Toyota dealer
Call the sales or service desk with the VIN and ask for a reprint of the original window sticker. The label lives in Toyota's dealer system, so a dealer is the place that can print the label itself.
Run the free spec sheet
Enter the VIN at the top of this page for the decoded build, EPA ratings, NHTSA stars and recalls. Print it if you need a record today.
What the free Toyota spec sheet shows
| Line on the spec sheet | Source | Toyota example |
|---|---|---|
| Year, model, trim, body, engine, drive and plant | NHTSA vPIC decode | VINs starting with 5TF come from Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas |
| City, highway and combined mpg, annual fuel cost | EPA, via fueleconomy.gov | 2026 Prius, front-wheel drive: 57 city, 56 highway, 57 combined |
| 5-Star Safety Ratings | NHTSA | 2025 Camry Hybrid: 5 stars overall, frontal, side and rollover |
| Recalls | NHTSA | Campaigns NHTSA lists for that model and model year |
Not on the spec sheet: MSRP, option prices, destination charge and paint colors. Those are only on the original label.
Toyota hybrid mpg on the window sticker
In EPA's 2026 data, the Camry, Crown, Crown Signia, Land Cruiser, Prius, RAV4, Sequoia and Sienna come only as hybrids, and the trim decides the number on the label. EPA's 2026 combined ratings:
- Camry Hybrid, front-wheel drive: 51 mpg for the LE, 46 for the SE, XLE and XSE
- RAV4: 43 mpg with front-wheel drive, 38 to 42 with AWD
- Prius: 52 to 57 mpg with front-wheel drive, 49 to 54 with AWD
- Sienna: 36 mpg with front-wheel drive, 35 with AWD
- Grand Highlander Hybrid: 34 to 36 mpg, or 27 for the 2.4-liter hybrid
The label's top corner may surprise you. fueleconomy.gov explains that a hybrid that doesn't plug in is labeled a gasoline vehicle, since gasoline is its only fuel. Plug-ins get a two-box label instead: EPA rates the 2025 RAV4 plug-in for 42 miles on electricity and the Prius plug-in for 40 to 45 miles, depending on trim.
Names don't always line up between government databases. NHTSA's decoder calls the plug-in Prius 'Prius Prime (PHEV)' while EPA lists 'Prius PHEV', so the spec sheet shows mpg only when the match is certain.
Which Toyota models can you look up?
Any 17-character Toyota VIN works. For 2026, NHTSA's vPIC lists the 4Runner, bZ, bZ Woodland, C-HR, Camry, Corolla, Corolla Cross, Crown, Crown Signia, GR Corolla, GR86, Grand Highlander, Highlander, Land Cruiser, Mirai, Prius, Prius Prime, RAV4, RAV4 Prime, Sequoia, Sienna, Supra, Tacoma and Tundra.
The electric models carry range instead of mpg. EPA rates the 2026 bZ at up to 314 miles and the bZ AWD at 288, and the electric C-HR at 287 miles on 18-inch wheels or 273 on 20-inch wheels. Those labels also show kWh per 100 miles and the charging time on 240 volts.
Where is the VIN on a Toyota, and what does it tell you?
Federal rules put the VIN where you can read it through the windshield from outside, next to the driver's side pillar, and on the certification label in the driver's door jamb. That door label also shows the month and year the vehicle was built.
The first three characters identify the maker and, for Toyota, often the plant. Per vPIC, JTD, JTE, JTM and JTN come from Toyota Motor Corporation in Japan; 4T1 and 4T3 from Toyota's Kentucky plant; 5TD from Indiana; 5TF and 7SV from Texas; 5YF from Mississippi; 2T3 from Toyota's Canadian plant; 3TM from Baja California; and 7MU from Mazda Toyota Manufacturing in the US. The Toyota VIN decoder explains every other position.
The 9th character is a check digit. The tool tests it before running anything, so a mistyped VIN gets caught right away.
Why do some new Toyotas have no overall crash rating?
The sticker law requires NHTSA's star ratings on the label, or a statement that the vehicle hasn't been rated. For 2025, NHTSA gave the Camry Hybrid 5 stars in every category and the Highlander 5 stars overall. The RAV4 Hybrid AWD and the Tacoma have no overall rating in NHTSA's 2025 list; the Tacoma shows only a 4-star rollover rating. The spec sheet shows the same NHTSA data for your VIN's model.
Selling a used Toyota from your lot?
The factory sticker shows what the car cost new, which isn't what a used buyer needs on the glass. The free window sticker maker builds a used-car window sheet from the VIN, with your price, mileage, stock number and a QR code that opens the car's listing on your website. Every used car you offer for sale needs an FTC Buyers Guide in the window as well.
