How to find a Chevy window sticker by VIN
Chevrolet window stickers come from GM, and GM keeps them online for recent model years. The lookup at the top of this page gets you there in a few taps:
Copy the VIN
It's on the windshield plate at the driver's side and on the label in the driver's door opening. Paste or type all 17 characters.
Let the tool check it
It fixes spacing and capitals, and stops on letters a VIN never uses (I, O and Q) or a check digit that doesn't add up.
Confirm the Chevy
The decode lists the model, year, trim, body, engine, drive type and assembly plant.
Open GM's sticker
Tap View the original Chevrolet window sticker. GM's page opens in a new tab with the PDF, if GM has that VIN.
Keep the spec sheet
Whether or not GM has the sticker, the spec sheet below covers fuel economy, crash ratings and recalls, and it prints.
Which Chevrolets have a sticker online?
Recent ones only. Our October 20, 2026 test used real Chevrolet VINs. Three 2025 Silverados came back with complete stickers. A 2017 Equinox, a 2020 Silverado and a 2022 Equinox came back as empty files: GM had nothing for them.
So the tool sorts Chevys by year. For a 2022 or older VIN, it shows the spec sheet first and the GM link second as Try GM anyway, because older Chevrolets were missing in our test. Newer VINs get the GM link first. We haven't tested 2023 or 2024 Chevrolets yet.
The year is the 10th VIN character: H for 2017, L for 2020, N for 2022 and S for 2025.
Corvette window sticker by VIN
Corvette buyers care about the original sticker more than most, because the options make the car. Two Corvettes of the same year and trim can differ by the Z51 package, wheels, seats and paint, and the sticker lists each one by name with its price. It's the document collectors keep with the car.
A Corvette VIN works here like any other Chevy. GM had the 2025 Chevrolets we tested, so a recent Corvette has a good chance of being on file. A 2020 or 2022 Corvette falls in model years GM didn't have in our test, so expect to rely on the spec sheet and the paperwork route below.
Silverado and Express: what a Chevy truck sticker shows
On a Silverado, the option list settles the questions buyers ask first: trim, engine, cab and bed, and the packages added at the factory, such as off-road or trailering equipment. That's more than a VIN decode can tell you.
Fuel economy is where trucks differ. A Silverado 1500 carries the full EPA label with city, highway and combined MPG. The Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD don't: EPA doesn't test pickups over 8,500 lb GVWR with a bed of 72 inches or more, and it names the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500 among them. Cargo vans over 8,500 lb GVWR, like the Express 3500 Cargo, are exempt too. The spec sheet skips MPG on those as well, so an empty fuel box is expected, not an error.
Electric Chevrolets get EPA's electric label instead, with MPGe, kWh per 100 miles, driving range and charge time.
Where is the VIN on a Chevrolet?
On Chevy cars, SUVs and light trucks it's in two places: through the windshield on the driver's side, where federal rules require it to be readable from outside, and on the certification label in the driver's door opening. That label also gives the month and year the vehicle was built and its weight ratings.
Medium-duty Chevrolets, such as the 4500HD and the 6500XD, are rated well above 10,000 lb GVWR, which puts them outside the windshield rule. On those, go by the door label or the title.
The free Chevrolet VIN decoder explains each character.
Chevy sticker page blank? What to do next
A blank tab, or a browser message that the PDF couldn't load, means GM sent back an empty file: it doesn't have that sticker online. From there:
- Double-check the VIN against the door label. A single wrong character sends GM looking for a different vehicle.
- Print the spec sheet. It covers any Chevrolet VIN, old or new.
- Call a Chevrolet dealer and ask whether they can print the original from the VIN.
- Look in the glove box and the sales file. Plenty of owners keep the original sticker.
- Tap Didn't work? Each report tells us more about which Chevy years GM keeps.
Using a Chevy's original sticker on the lot
A late-model Silverado or Tahoe trade-in is worth checking line by line. Pull the original sticker before you appraise it, compare the packages with what's on the truck, and use GM's option names in your listing so shoppers searching for them find it.
Keep the printout with the deal jacket, and display the FTC Buyers Guide on every used Chevy you offer. Make your own price sticker with the free window sticker maker. The same lookup covers the GMC and Buick units on your lot.
Photos sell the car before the sticker does. In CarShots, each photo uploads and processes while you shoot the next angle, and comes back on a clean backdrop in about 20 seconds.
