How to get a Tesla window sticker
Tesla sells its cars directly rather than through franchised dealers, and it has no public URL that returns a window sticker by VIN. The owner's Tesla account shows the original order details, so if you own the car, start there, along with any paperwork from the original purchase. If you're buying a used Tesla, ask the seller to share those order details, or contact Tesla with the VIN.
For everything public, the spec sheet on this page is free. It decodes the VIN with NHTSA's vPIC and adds EPA range and efficiency, NHTSA's 5-Star Safety Ratings and the recalls NHTSA lists for that model and year. Our window sticker guide covers the rest of the label.
Tesla range on the window sticker, by model
EPA rates each Tesla version separately, and wheel size can change the figure, as it does on BMW EVs. The 2026 ratings:
| 2026 Tesla | EPA range | Efficiency |
|---|---|---|
| Model 3 Premium RWD | 363 miles | 25 kWh per 100 miles |
| Model 3 Standard RWD | 321 miles | 24 kWh per 100 miles |
| Model 3 Premium AWD | 346 miles | 26 kWh per 100 miles |
| Model Y Long Range RWD | 357 miles | 25 kWh per 100 miles |
| Model Y Long Range AWD | 327 miles | 27 kWh per 100 miles |
| Model Y Standard RWD | 321 miles on 18-inch wheels, 303 on 19-inch | 24 to 26 kWh per 100 miles |
| Model S | 410 miles | 27 kWh per 100 miles |
| Model X | 352 miles | 32 kWh per 100 miles |
| Cybertruck AWD | 325 miles | 43 kWh per 100 miles |

What's on a Tesla's window sticker?
A new Tesla carries the same federal label as any new car: make, model and VIN, the final assembly point, the base price and each option with its price, the transportation charge and the total, plus NHTSA's star ratings. The EPA section is the electric version: range, MPGe, kWh per 100 miles, the annual electricity cost and the charging time on 240 volts. EPA lists 240-volt charge times from 8 hours (Model Y Long Range AWD) to 14 hours (Model X).
Where is the VIN on a Tesla?
Tesla's Model Y owner's manual lists three places: on the touchscreen under Controls > Software, on a plate on the dashboard that you can read through the windshield, and on the label on the door pillar. Per vPIC, Tesla uses 5YJ for passenger cars, 7SA for SUVs (registered in 2021) and 7G2 for trucks (registered in 2022). The Tesla VIN decoder walks through the rest.
Tesla crash ratings on the window sticker
NHTSA's 2025 list gives the Model Y 5 stars in every category and the Cybertruck 5 stars overall, with 4 for rollover. The 2025 Model 3 is Not Rated in every category, so its label carries a statement that NHTSA hasn't rated it, as the sticker law requires. The spec sheet shows the status NHTSA lists for your VIN's model and year.
Selling a used Tesla from your lot?
Range is the first question on a used Tesla, and it depends on the version: a 2026 Model Y is rated anywhere from 294 to 357 miles. Put the decoded version and its EPA range in the listing. The free window sticker maker prints those, your price and mileage, and a QR code to the listing on a used-car window sheet. Like any used car, it also needs the FTC Buyers Guide in the window.
