Comparison
CarShots vs Photoroom
Photoroom is a general AI photo editor for online sellers of every kind, with apps, batch editing and an API, at a low price per image. CarShots is built only for car dealers: a guided shoot on your team's phones, every car back on a clean backdrop, walkaround videos and an inventory feed for your website.
The short answer
Photoroom is a good fit if you already have good photos and want the lowest price per edited image, you edit more than cars, or you have developers to build its API into your own systems. CarShots is built for dealers who want studio-quality photos from a phone with no hardware, for a flat monthly price.
Up to 10 photos, no card needed.

What is Photoroom?
Photoroom is an AI photo editor for online sellers of every kind, from apparel and beauty to food and furniture. It has iPhone, iPad, Android and web apps, a batch editor, a REST API and an MCP server for AI assistants. For cars, its automotive page pitches background swaps, reflection fixes, resizing and vehicle videos to used-car marketplaces, much of it through the API.
Photoroom is open about where it stops. It describes car capture tools like Spyne as built around guided shooting apps, 360 spins and dealership photo workflows, and itself as the layer that standardizes photos from any source. CarShots sits on the capture side: your team shoots each car on their phones with an outline on screen for each exterior angle, and every photo comes back on a clean backdrop in about 20 seconds. Try a photo of your own car to see the difference on your own lot.
Photoroom pricing vs CarShots pricing
Photoroom prices by exports and AI credits. Every image you download, share or publish counts as one export, and AI tools such as generated backgrounds and videos draw on a monthly pool of AI credits. On monthly billing, the plans line up like this.
| Plan | Price a month | Images a month | About an image |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photoroom Pro | $12.99 | 1,000 exports | 1.3¢ |
| Photoroom Max | $34.99 | 3,000 exports | 1.2¢ |
| Photoroom Ultra | $99 | 10,000 exports | 1¢ |
| CarShots | $50 | 333 photos | 15¢ |
Photoroom prices in US dollars on monthly billing, from its pricing page, checked October 28, 2026. Billed yearly, Pro is $7.50 a month, Max $20.99 and Ultra $82.50. Photoroom's Free plan is for personal, non-commercial use only. On CarShots, 67 more photos cost $10 anytime and carry over. More on pricing.
A general photo editor or a car photo workflow?
Photoroom is the cheaper way to edit photos you already have. If someone on your team takes good photos and is happy to run them through an editor, its Pro plan covers up to 1,000 images a month.
CarShots is built around the lot instead. The shot list keeps every car consistent: the same exterior angles, framed the same way, whoever is shooting that day. Photos upload and process while you walk to the next angle, and each car keeps its photos and walkaround video together. Photoroom's own guide for dealers tells you to shoot the same angle sequence on every vehicle; CarShots puts that sequence on the screen. See our car photography angles guide for the shots that matter.
License plates and 360 spins
Photoroom's own comparison with Spyne lists plate blur and 360 spin photography as car features Photoroom doesn't include, and it points dealers who need them to Spyne. CarShots doesn't blur plates automatically either. You hide a plate by asking in plain words, like "hide the license plate", on the photos where it should go. For a quick fix on any photo, the free license plate blur tool blurs plates too.
Neither one makes interactive 360 spins. CarShots makes a 15-second 360° walkaround video from each car's photos instead.
Photoroom videos vs CarShots walkaround videos
Photoroom's Max and Ultra plans add video: ads with actors, music and voiceover, and product videos animated from your photos, both drawn from your AI credits. Pro has no video. CarShots makes a 15-second 360° walkaround video with voiceover and music from each car's photos, ready for your website and listings, and the trial includes one. More on walkaround videos.
Getting the photos onto your website
Photoroom connects through code. Each paid plan includes API credits worth the plan's price for its REST API and MCP server, and its automotive page describes wiring the API into your inventory system.
CarShots needs no developer. Turn on a car's Website feed switch and its photos and walkaround videos go into a CSV or XML inventory feed, or an SFTP upload, for your website provider or DMS, with new ones added as they finish. You can also download one photo or a zip of the whole car.
Why dealers switch from Photoroom
A shoot built for cars
CarShots shows your team where to stand for each exterior angle, so every car gets the same shots in the same framing. Photoroom edits photos from any source and leaves guided shooting to car tools.
Walkaround videos
CarShots turns each car's photos into a 15-second 360° walkaround video with voiceover and music, and the trial includes one. Photoroom's video tools make ads and product videos, on its Max and Ultra plans.
Photos onto your website without code
Each car's photos and walkaround videos can join a CSV or XML inventory feed, or an SFTP upload, that your website or DMS picks up. Photoroom connects to an inventory system through its API.
