What is CarPixAI?

CarPixAI is a self-serve AI photo editor for dealerships that runs in the browser. You take a photo with your phone's camera in the browser, or upload the inventory photos you already have, choose a dealer background style such as White studio or Daylight showroom, and download the finished photos for your website and listings. There's no separate app to install, and its Business and Growth plans add a REST API and an MCP server.

CarShots starts one step earlier, at the shoot. Your team follows a shot list with on-screen outlines for each exterior angle, in the browser or the CarShots iOS app, and every photo comes back on a clean backdrop in about 20 seconds. Try a photo of your own car to see the result.

CarPixAI pricing vs CarShots pricing

Both sell a monthly allowance of photos, so the fair comparison is what one finished photo costs at the volume you shoot.

PlanPrice a monthPhotos a monthAbout a photo
CarPixAI Free$010Free
CarPixAI Pro$3915026¢
CarPixAI Business$9950020¢
CarPixAI Growth$1791,00018¢
CarShots$5033315¢

CarPixAI prices in US dollars from its pricing page, checked October 28, 2026. The REST API and MCP come with Business and Growth only. On CarShots, 67 more photos cost $10 anytime and carry over, so a busy month costs about the same per photo. More on pricing.

Do you need photo cleanup or a guided shoot?

CarPixAI is built for the photos you already have. It replaces the background and gives your inventory a more consistent look, and it says it's strongest when the source photos are already usable.

CarShots fixes the shoot itself. Your team follows the same shot list on every car, with an outline on screen for each exterior angle, so the framing matches from car to car before the backdrop goes on. Photos upload and process while they shoot the next angle. If your current photos are uneven, a guided shoot fixes more than background cleanup can. Our car photography angles guide shows the shot list.

License plates and backgrounds

CarPixAI can put your dealership logo on a supported dealer plate, keep the original plate or leave it blank. CarShots doesn't change plates automatically; you hide a plate with a one-line photo edit, like "hide the license plate". You can also blur plates in any photo with the free license plate blur tool.

CarPixAI offers a set of dealer background styles, such as White studio and Daylight showroom. CarShots has 20 curated studio, showroom, outdoor and scenic backdrops; use the same one on every car so your listings match, or email CarShots for your own showroom or a branded background. See them on the car backgrounds page.

Does CarPixAI have an API?

Yes. CarPixAI's Business and Growth plans include a REST API and an MCP server, which lets an AI assistant you approve send it photos, up to 10 at a time. CarPixAI says neither one offers webhooks or publishes to a DMS or inventory feed.

CarShots has no API. It sends photos and walkaround videos to your website or DMS with a CSV or XML inventory feed, or an SFTP upload, set up in CarShots settings, and you can download one photo or the whole car as a zip.

Does CarPixAI make walkaround videos?

No. CarPixAI's own site says it isn't an AI video platform or a 360-spin capture suite. CarShots makes a 15-second 360° walkaround video with voiceover and music from the photos your team already shot, and the trial includes one. More on walkaround videos.

Why dealers switch from CarPixAI

  • Less per photo at every plan size

CarPixAI works out to about 26¢ an image on Pro, 20¢ on Business and 18¢ on Growth. CarShots is $50 a month for 333 photos, about 15¢ a photo.

  • A guided shoot, not just cleanup

CarPixAI works on whatever photos you give it. CarShots shows your team where to stand for each exterior angle, so every car gets the same set of shots before the backdrop goes on.

  • Walkaround videos

CarPixAI says it isn't an AI video platform or a 360-spin suite. CarShots turns each car's photos into a 15-second 360° walkaround video with voiceover and music.

When CarPixAI may be the better choice

CarPixAI may suit you better if:

  • You want photo editing inside your own software or an AI assistant. CarPixAI's Business and Growth plans include a REST API and an MCP server; CarShots has no API and delivers by inventory feed or SFTP upload.
  • You only need a handful of photos. CarPixAI's Free plan includes 10 images every month with no card, while the CarShots free start is one car, once.
  • You want your logo on the plate. CarPixAI puts your dealership logo on a supported dealer plate, or keeps the plate or leaves it blank; CarShots hides a plate with a one-line photo edit.

Can I use CarShots with my website provider?

Yes. CarShots gives you a CSV or XML inventory feed, or sends it by SFTP upload, so your website provider or DMS can pick up the photos and walkaround videos. There's no API or direct integration, and you can still download one photo or the whole car as a zip. CarPixAI offers a REST API and MCP on its Business and Growth plans, with no direct DMS or feed publishing.

Does CarPixAI make 360 spins or videos?

No. CarPixAI says it isn't an AI video platform or a 360-spin capture suite. CarShots makes a 15-second 360° walkaround video from each car's photos; it doesn't make interactive 360 spins either.
