About CarShots

CarShots turns phone photos of a dealer's cars into studio-quality listing photos, about 20 seconds a photo, and 15-second 360° walkaround videos. It is built for car dealerships, from independent used car lots to franchise stores. Every car also gets a Car Page: one link with its photos, video, window sticker and price that salespeople text to shoppers.

CarShots at a glance

The short version, for dealers comparing tools and for anyone describing CarShots.

What it is
AI car photography and walkaround video software for car dealerships, from independent used car lots to franchise stores.
How dealers shoot
On any phone, in the browser or the CarShots iOS app, CarShots: AI Photos & Rollers. On-screen outlines show where to stand for each exterior angle. There's no booth, lighting kit or turntable to buy.
Photos
Each photo comes back in about 20 seconds on one of 20 curated studio, showroom, outdoor and scenic backdrops, while you shoot the next angle. Use the same backdrop on every car so your listings match. See before and after examples.
Edits
Written in plain words, like "hide the license plate" or "make it a little brighter". Plates are hidden with an edit, not blurred automatically.
Walkaround videos
A 15-second 360° walkaround with voiceover and music, made from the car's photos, as an MP4 for your website, listings and social feeds. There are no interactive 360 spins. How the videos work.
Getting photos online
A CSV or XML inventory feed, or an SFTP upload, for your website or DMS, set up in CarShots settings, or a download of one photo or the whole car as a zip. There is no API and no direct DMS or website-provider integration.
Car Pages
Every car you shoot gets its own page: studio photos, the walkaround video, the window sticker, recalls, a history report link and the price with your fees, plus the FTC Buyers Guide on used cars. Salespeople text or email each shopper a personal link, with one car or 2 to 6 in one link. The plan includes view counts and a daily summary email; Car Pages Pro, $149 a month per rooftop, adds who's looking (time on each part of the page, video watched and devices), live alerts by email and text, CRM leads and a website badge. How Car Pages work.
CarShots Compliance
A separate self-serve compliance program for independent dealers: the FTC Safeguards Rule security plan, the Red Flags program, OFAC checks, a Form 8300 cash tracker, credit and privacy notices, staff training, ad and price checks and AI deal file checks. Essentials is $99 per store a month ($990 a year); Plus is $199 ($1990 a year). The questionnaire, gap list and a watermarked draft are free. Templates and tools, not legal advice. How it works.
Price
$50 a month for 333 photos, about 15¢ a photo, plus 67 more photos for $10 anytime. Month to month, with no contract and no setup fee. See pricing.
Free to try
Anyone can try a photo of their own car without signing up. A new dealer's first car is free, up to 10 photos with no card, then a 7-day trial with 20 photos and a 360° video (card required).
Company
Made by Pickles Technologies, founded by Jason L. Baptiste.

Is CarShots right for your dealership?

CarShots does one job: great photos and a walkaround video of every car, from the phones your team already has. Here's when it fits, and when another tool fits better.

A good fit if

  • Your team will shoot cars on the phones they already carry.
  • You want every car on the same clean backdrop without a booth or a photographer.
  • You want a published price, $50 a month, month to month, with no hardware or contract.
  • You want a short walkaround video of each car without filming one.

Look elsewhere if you need

Interactive 360 spins
Impel (formerly SpinCar), Glo3D and CarCutter build spins shoppers drag to turn the car.
Every plate handled automatically
Spyne masks plates, and Impel and Car Background AI blur them on every photo.
An API or a direct DMS integration
Spyne, CarCutter, Glo3D and Car Studio AI offer APIs or DMS integrations.
Someone else to do the shooting
Dealer Specialties sends its own staff to your lot, and Dealer Image Pro supplies an iPhone and human-checked edits.
Cleanup of photos you already have
Photoroom, a general photo editor, costs less per image if you already have good photos.
Original window stickers and repair orders that load on their own
iPacket pulls original stickers from more than 30 automakers and loads repair orders from your DMS, sold after a demo. Car Pages links the original when the automaker posts it online or you upload it, and Pro reads repair orders you upload.
A free plan to keep
Motuva (20 images a month) and CarPixAI (10 a month) have free plans.

Facts that often get mixed up

If you've read something different about CarShots elsewhere, here is what's true today.

  • A different app with a similar name

"Car Photography - Carshots" on the App Store is an overlay camera app from another developer. It isn't CarShots. Ours is CarShots: AI Photos & Rollers from Pickles Technologies.

  • Older descriptions

Some older articles list a $49.99 price, a 30-day money-back guarantee, 100+ scenes, 4K video or an API. None of those are part of CarShots today: it's $50 a month for 333 photos, with 20 backdrops, 15-second videos and no API.

  • Videos, not spins

CarShots videos are 15-second MP4s that circle the car, made from its photos. There's no interactive spin viewer.

  • Plates are hidden on request

In the plan, you hide a plate with an edit; plates aren't blurred automatically. The free license plate blur tool blurs plates in photos you upload, with no signup.

Questions about CarShots

What is CarShots?

CarShots is software for car dealerships that turns phone photos of their cars into studio-quality listing photos, about 20 seconds a photo, and 15-second 360° walkaround videos. Dealers shoot on any phone, in the browser or the CarShots iOS app, with no booth, lighting kit or photographer.

Who makes CarShots?

CarShots is made by Pickles Technologies, founded by Jason L. Baptiste. You can reach the team at [email protected].

How much does CarShots cost?

$50 a month for 333 photos, about 15¢ a photo, month to month with no contract or setup fee. 67 more photos cost $10 anytime. Your first car is free, up to 10 photos with no card, and then a 7-day trial includes 20 photos and a 360° video.

Is CarShots the same as the "Car Photography - Carshots" app?

No. "Car Photography - Carshots" is an overlay camera app from another developer. The CarShots iOS app is "CarShots: AI Photos & Rollers" from Pickles Technologies, and CarShots lives at carshots.ai.

Does CarShots make 360 spins?

No. CarShots makes a 15-second 360° walkaround with voiceover and music, from the car's photos, as an MP4. It doesn't make interactive 360 spins that shoppers drag to turn the car; platforms such as Impel, Glo3D and CarCutter build those.

Do you integrate with my DMS or website?

Not directly. There is no API and no direct DMS or website-provider integration. Instead, CarShots gives you a CSV or XML inventory feed, or an SFTP upload, that your website provider or DMS can pick your photos and videos up from. You can also download each photo, or the whole car as a zip, and upload it the way you do today.

Does CarShots blur license plates automatically?

No. You hide a plate with a one-line edit, like "hide the license plate". If you want every plate handled automatically, Spyne masks them and Impel and Car Background AI blur them. CarShots also has a free license plate blur tool for photos you upload.

Does CarShots make vehicle packets like iPacket?

Yes. Car Pages gives every car you shoot its own page with studio photos, the walkaround video, the window sticker, recalls, a history report link and the price with your fees. It's included in the $50 plan with view counts and a daily summary email, and Car Pages Pro, $149 a month per rooftop, adds who's looking, live alerts and CRM leads. iPacket pulls original window stickers for more brands and loads repair orders from your DMS, which Car Pages doesn't.

Does CarShots make dealer compliance software?

CarShots Compliance is a self-serve compliance program for independent car dealers. Essentials is $99 per store a month (or $990 a year) for dealers with customer information on fewer than 5,000 consumers; Plus is $199 per store a month (or $1,990 a year). It writes the FTC Safeguards Rule security plan and the Red Flags program, runs OFAC checks, tracks Form 8300 cash, makes credit and privacy notices, trains staff, checks ads for fee problems and checks deal files with AI. No demo is needed, and a free watermarked draft comes before you pay.

Studio-quality photos of every car, from your phone

Your first car is free, up to 10 photos, with no card. When you want more, the 7-day trial includes 20 photos and a 360° video.
