Car Studio AI vs Spyne: which is better for dealers?

They're built for different buyers. Car Studio AI is a self-serve photo editor with published monthly plans, plate masking in every photo's credit and a REST API for dealer software. Spyne is a merchandising platform sold on a quote: a smartphone capture app, 100+ backgrounds and, on its Pro plan, car tours and video tours with narration, plus DMS, IMS and website integrations.

  • Pick Car Studio AI if you want to start today at a known price, edit photos you shoot in its app or already have, and mask the plate on every photo.
  • Pick Spyne if you want one vendor for capture, backgrounds, car tours and video tours, with direct integrations, and you're fine with a quoted plan on a term contract.
  • Look at CarShots if you want a guided phone shoot, studio backdrops and walkaround videos at a published flat price, month to month.

We make CarShots, so weigh our view with that in mind. Every fact below about Car Studio AI and Spyne comes from their own websites, checked in October 2026.

From each company's own website: Car Studio AI checked October 26, 2026, and Spyne October 20, 2026. Car Studio AI shows its prices with "$" and gives the currency at checkout. Our comparisons, CarShots vs Car Studio AI and CarShots vs Spyne, link every source.

Is Car Studio AI cheaper than Spyne?

Car Studio AI is the one you can price before you talk to anyone: $30.99 a month for 100 photos, $84.99 for 300 or $156.99 for 600, about 26¢ to 31¢ a photo, and unused credits don't roll over. Spyne's pricing page lists its Lite and Pro plans without prices, so what you pay depends on your quote.

Spyne's other pages do mention numbers: its 360 car photography page says plans start from $350 a month, and its FAQ page mentions $8 to shoot a single car. Those pages may be older than its pricing page, so get a quote at your volume before you compare.

For a third number, CarShots is $50 a month for 333 photos, about 15¢ a photo, which is about $3 for a 20-photo car.

How do Car Studio AI and Spyne compare on photos and backgrounds?

Both start from a phone. Car Studio AI lets you shoot in its iOS, Android or web app or upload photos you already have, and edits each one in seconds, per the company. It offers dozens of indoor, outdoor and showroom backgrounds; its Pro plan adds your own background and logo uploads, and Enterprise adds a custom studio design.

Spyne's capture app is built for dealer staff, with 100+ AI backgrounds or one you customize, and it also takes uploads and photos from its integrations. Spyne says its edits take seconds too.

On plates, both handle every photo: Car Studio AI can blur, cover or replace the plate with your own design within each photo's credit, and Spyne masks plates automatically.

Which has better video and 360: Car Studio AI or Spyne?

Spyne goes further here. Its Pro plan includes exterior and interior car tours and AI walkaround video tours with voice narration. Car Studio AI's video tool turns 8 to 15 of your photos into a narrated video, with 5 templates and voiceover in 8 languages, and its product pages don't describe 360 spins.

CarShots makes a 15-second 360° walkaround video with voiceover and music from each car's photos, and no interactive spins. If interactive 360 tours matter most to you, Spyne or a 360 platform like CarCutter, Impel or Glo3D fits better.

How do their integrations and contracts compare?

Spyne lists DMS, IMS and website integrations, plus developer API access. Car Studio AI offers a REST API with webhooks for DMS platforms and a white-label option; ask which plan includes the API.

On contracts, Car Studio AI bills monthly or annually and renews automatically unless you cancel 24 hours before the period ends. Spyne's terms set an Order Form term with a lock-in period that auto-renews unless you give 30 days' notice, and the length is set in your Order Form, so read it before you sign.

CarShots has no API: photos and videos reach your website or DMS through a CSV or XML inventory feed or an SFTP upload. It's month to month, and you can cancel anytime.

Do Car Studio AI and Spyne have free trials?

Car Studio AI gives every new account 3 free credits, enough for 3 photos. Spyne's FAQ page mentions a 14-day free trial, but its pricing page doesn't list trial terms, so confirm with Spyne. CarShots gives a dealer's first car free, up to 10 photos with no card, and anyone can try a photo of their own car without signing up.

Is there an alternative to Car Studio AI and Spyne?

Yes. If you want a published price like Car Studio AI's and a guided phone shoot like Spyne's, CarShots sits between them. Your team shoots each car on any phone, in the browser or the CarShots iOS app, with an outline on screen for each exterior angle. Each photo comes back in about 20 seconds on one of 20 curated backdrops, edits are plain words like "hide the license plate", and a walkaround video is made from the car's photos.

It's $50 a month for 333 photos, about 15¢ a photo, which is less per photo than any of Car Studio AI's published plans. What it doesn't do: there's no automatic plate masking, no interactive 360 spins and no API.
