How Focus fills in the car
Focus writes merge fields between double curly braces. The ones in iPacket's public Focus guide are named for the first desired vehicle on the customer's record, its year, make, model and VIN, plus the store's name from the DMS branch. The VIN field is PT_DESIRED1_VIN.
That naming matters before you send anything. A customer who wants two cars will most likely get a link to the one listed first, so put the car you're writing about first on the record, or send the other car as a personal link from CarShots.
Add the Car Page link to a Focus template
iPacket's guide pastes an HTML email body into the Focus template builder, and gives a smaller snippet for adding its button to a template you already have. Do the same with your Car Page link:
- Open the template in the Focus template builder, where it takes HTML.
- Add a link or button pointing to carshots.ai/c/d/, your dealer key, a slash, and the VIN field shown below.
- Use the guide's subject line, so the email names the car before it's opened.
- Save it, and send it to yourself on a test customer whose first desired vehicle is a car you've shot.
https://carshots.ai/c/d/{your dealer key}/{{PT_DESIRED1_VIN}}
- For example
- https://carshots.ai/c/d/k7m2qx/{{PT_DESIRED1_VIN}}
- The VIN merge field
{{PT_DESIRED1_VIN}}, as iPacket Help Center: How to set up your Reynolds Focus integration writes it. Pick it from Reynolds Focus's own list of merge fields if yours looks different.- A subject line that names the car
{{PT_DESIRED1_YEAR}} {{PT_DESIRED1_MAKE}} {{PT_DESIRED1_MODEL}} from {{PT_DMS_BRANCH_NAME}}, from the same guide.
This is a link you paste into your own templates, not a certified Reynolds Focus integration, and Reynolds Focus doesn't endorse it. Car Pages Pro shows your link with your dealer key filled in. Send a test to yourself before your team uses it.
Get Car Page leads in Focus
Car Pages Pro emails every question from a Car Page to the address you set, in ADF/XML, which is how listing sites and other lead sources hand leads to dealer CRMs. To send them to Focus, get your store's ADF lead address from your Focus administrator or Reynolds support, and ask them to name the source CarShots. Then add the address to your Car Pages Pro settings in CarShots. Each lead names the car and carries the shopper's message, so whoever picks it up in Focus knows which car to talk about.

</adf>Template links and personal links
A template link is the same for every customer who gets it, so CarShots counts its visits toward the car's views without a shopper's name on them. A personal link is made for one shopper when you share a car from CarShots. On Car Pages Pro, personal links are what power who's looking: each shopper's visits, a hot score, and a live email or text alert when they come back to the page.
Most stores use both. The template link goes out in every first reply from Focus, and salespeople send a personal link to the shoppers they're actively working.
The fine print
Car Pages isn't a certified Reynolds Focus integration, and Reynolds and Reynolds hasn't reviewed or endorsed it. CarShots doesn't read from or write to Focus or your DMS; the only connections are the link in your templates and the lead emails. The VIN field comes from iPacket's public guide, so if your Focus account lists the field differently, use your account's version. See what goes on each Car Page, compare CarShots and iPacket, or check pricing.
