How to work out Wyoming sales tax on a car
Multiply the taxable price by the rate. In Wyoming the trade-in comes off first.
A $30,000 car with a $5,000 trade: $25,000 x 4% = $1,000 at the state rate, plus any county or city tax where you register the car.
4% state plus county local option taxes of the buyer's county of residence, paid to the county treasurer before the first Wyoming registration.
Trade-ins
WYDOT/DOR Form 107: a trade-in allowance is subtracted from the price; the trade's title must already be in the purchaser's name, and a leased vehicle counts only after it has been bought out with tax paid.
Leasing a car in Wyoming
Tax on each monthly payment. Wyoming: leases are taxable sales; tax is generally collected on the lease payments, sourced to where the vehicle is kept. The lease calculator uses Wyoming's method when you pick the state.
