Find your communication templates in Tekion
iPacket's public Tekion guide gives the path to the template screens: select the nine-dot icon at the top left, search for Templates, choose Communication Templates, then Email or Text Templates, and click New Template. You can also open a template your team already sends and add the link to it. The guide tags its templates by department, communication type and category so salespeople can find them, and tagging a Car Page template the same way helps too.
Add the link, and confirm the VIN field
The link is carshots.ai/c/d/, then your dealer key, a slash, and Tekion's merge field for the vehicle's VIN. We haven't found a public guide that names that field, so we don't guess it. If the template editor lists the fields it can fill in, pick the one for the vehicle's VIN; if not, ask Tekion support or your administrator which field holds the VIN of the customer's vehicle of interest.
The field is what lets one template work for every car. With the right field, each message opens the Car Page for the car on that customer's record. With the wrong one, or none, the link has no VIN to open.
https://carshots.ai/c/d/{your dealer key}/[your CRM's VIN merge field]
- For example
- https://carshots.ai/c/d/k7m2qx/[your CRM's VIN merge field]
- The VIN merge field
- Pick the field that holds the vehicle's VIN from Tekion's list of merge fields. No public guide we found spells it out, so we don't guess it here.
- Where templates live
- The nine-dot icon (top left), search for Templates, then Communication Templates, then Email or Text Templates, then New Template, per iPacket Help Center: How to set up your Tekion integration.
- Good to know
- To test, the guide makes a lead with your own email and cell number and a car in stock, then picks the template with the book icon (Search templates) at the bottom of the email.
This is a link you paste into your own templates, not a certified Tekion integration, and Tekion doesn't endorse it. Car Pages Pro shows your link with your dealer key filled in. Send a test to yourself before your team uses it.
Test it on a lead of your own
iPacket's guide tests its Tekion template on a test lead, and that's the surest way to check yours:
- Create a lead with your own email address and cell number.
- Add a car that's in stock and has a Car Page, by its stock number.
- Assign a salesperson to the lead.
- Start an email to the lead, select the book icon (Search templates) at the very bottom, and choose your template.
- Send it, open the link, and make sure it lands on the right car.
Repeat with the text template. If the link says the car isn't available, the VIN didn't fill in, or CarShots has no page for that car yet.
Route Car Page questions into Tekion as leads
For leads going the other way, Car Pages Pro emails each question a shopper sends from a Car Page to the address you give it, written in ADF/XML, the lead format dealer CRMs read. If your store already gets internet leads in Tekion from listing sites, it has an address that takes ADF/XML; ask your administrator for it. Enter it in CarShots in your Car Pages Pro settings, and ask your administrator to name the source CarShots. Each lead carries the shopper's contact details, their message and the car they were looking at.

</adf>What's not part of this setup
Tekion hasn't certified or endorsed Car Pages, and there's no API between them. iPacket's own Tekion setup starts with a disclosure form and API work on iPacket's side; Car Pages skips that, because it's only a link in your templates and leads by email. The tradeoff is that nothing syncs back: page views stay in CarShots, where Car Pages Pro shows who's looking through personal links, with a hot score and live alerts. Car Pages doesn't connect to your DMS either.
If you're comparing tools, the CarShots vs iPacket comparison and our list of the best iPacket alternatives cover the differences, and Car Pages shows what each page holds.
